[player nick / name]: Mouse

[series]: Firestarter
[character]: Charlie McGee
[character history / background]: Her life is lovely y/n?
[character personality]: At this point in her life, Charlie doesn't trust anyone easily. She's been duped and lied to so many times that she can't. It's almost impossible for her to. She'll be friendly and nice to people, but don't take it for naivety. She's far from naive. She's wise beyond her years, due in no small part to how her life went for the first twelve years of it. She doesn't allow herself to get close to people, afraid that it will end badly for her or even worse for them and has a habit of pushing people away if she feels they're getting too close.

She's dishonest, too. She won't tell anyone her real name. She'll stick to a nickname or a false name. And only just that. If she does use her real name, it's either a miracle or a mistake.

When and if she does find someone she can trust, she bonds immediately and it's a strong bond. Her stubbornness won't let anything get between her and whoever it is she trusts. Charlie's loyal to the people she cares about and will fight to keep them with her.

She's learned from trusting Rainbird, however, that trusting people is just a mistake in general. So she's jaded. She tries to keep herself neutral to everything and keeps her emotions in check as best as possible. This is an old habit from childhood since her abilities were so strongly tied to them and made controlling her pyrokinesis quite tricky.

Even with all that, though, Charlie is saddled with a big heart. As closed off as she is, she can't help but care for people in need and want to do something to help them. She firmly believes at the core of her very being that life is short and pain is hard and we were all put on this planet to help each other. She wants more than anything to see good in a person, but will find it difficult to believe it's honest good and not out of a need to gain something.
[point in timeline you're picking your character from]: Before the events of the second film.

[third person / log sample]:

Charlie doesn't connect with people. At all. Partially because she doesn't want to. Partially because she can't. It's just not possible for her to do. She's closed parts of herself off and pushed them so far away that she's forgotten they're there. Her emotions are some of those parts and she knows without them, she won't survive long.

But they're still too big and too much. It's better to ignore them, she tells herself. It's better to forget they're there because they've caused so much trouble, anyway, even if they don't have as huge a connection to her ability.

She's out for coffee one day, just a small cup to sip at while she pretends to read. She's being watched, but it's not like before. Not like when the Shop watches. She feels them when they're close but this guy? He wasn't Shop.

He was still unsettling. He ducks his head when she looks at him, chatting for a moment to his friend before looking at her again with some weird smile on his face.

Charlie frowns, shrinking down into her seat. Please stop. What are you doing? she wonders to herself. If she'd been reading before, this guys behavior would have thrown her a while ago. She pretends to press on, now trying to not look at the guy but by this point it's near impossible.

There's now a twinge in her chest, some kind of pull that says Go. Say hi. She wants to listen but that's impossible. And he's still watching her.

She stares. He stares back.

He waves and she notices how blue his eyes are and how dark his hair is. How his front teeth are just a bit crooked and there's a lip ring that she just can't stop looking at. He says something to his friend and stands. His friend pats his arm, a brief thumbs up flashed and Charlie's on her feet, too.

Her book is closed with her thumb in the pages and her coffee is set on the table.

The guy starts over and Charlie's feet take her towards him for a moment. But then, Charlie regains control of her body. Her head ducks, her pace quickens and before the guy is aware of what happens...

Charlie's out the door and disappearing into the crowd, plans forming in her head for her to vanish from this town entirely.

It's better this way, anyway
