( Plot info )

Charlie McGee (in this instance, born and raised in Seattle, Washington) is still a product of a science experiment done on her parents, the main component of which comes from an unknown crystalline object much like the one found by Andrew Detmer and his friends. Charlie's abilities manifested at age eleven, a pyrokinetic blast burning her and her parents home to the ground. Her parents didn't survive and she went to live with her grandparents. Tricking the Government group responsible for her abilities into thinking she has exactly none, she's lived a peaceful life on a farm that takes up five acres.

Her grandparents are accepting of her ability, even going so far as to help her learn to control it and help it grow. She's home-schooled by choice to keep her abilities under wraps and at age sixteen she and her grandfather worked on converting an unused garage into an apartment for herself.

Quite recently she took a waitressing job at the local diner and i was there that Charlie observed Andrew stabbing his cousin in the hand with a fork. Matt remained unscathed, the fork became a mangled object and Charlie questioned Andrew as to what was going on. Probably not the best first impression to make, especially when Andrew stuttered out the bullshit excuse that it was just a trick.

Eventually, Andrew came to her and they talked it out.

History:
Personality: At this point in her life, Charlie doesn't trust anyone easily. She's been duped and lied to so many times that she can't. It's almost impossible for her to. She'll be friendly and nice to people, but don't take it for naivety. She's far from naive. She's wise beyond her years, due in no small part to how her life went for the first twelve years of it. She doesn't allow herself to get close to people, afraid that it will end badly for her or even worse for them and has a habit of pushing people away if she feels they're getting too close.

She's dishonest, too. She won't tell anyone her real name. She'll stick to a nickname or a false name. And only just that. If she does use her real name, it's either a miracle or a mistake.

When and if she does find someone she can trust, she bonds immediately and it's a strong bond. Her stubbornness won't let anything get between her and whoever it is she trusts. Charlie's loyal to the people she cares about and will fight to keep them with her.

She's learned from trusting Rainbird, however, that trusting people is just a mistake in general. So she's jaded. She tries to keep herself neutral to everything and keeps her emotions in check as best as possible. This is an old habit from childhood since her abilities were so strongly tied to them and made controlling her pyrokinesis quite tricky.

Even with all that, though, Charlie is saddled with a big heart. As closed off as she is, she can't help but care for people in need and want to do something to help them. She firmly believes at the core of her very being that life is short and pain is hard and we were all put on this planet to help each other. She wants more than anything to see good in a person, but will find it difficult to believe it's honest good and not out of a need to gain something. It really does take a lot to earn her trust, and it takes a lot less to break it, so anyone that tries to befriend her will be treated with suspicion. People her age will get less of this than adults, mostly because Charlie hasn't spent a lot of time around other teenagers and she sort of has no clue how to handle them at all. In fact, it's best stated that Charlie's social skills are shaky at best. She has manners, sure, but she will also tell a person off if she thinks they deserve it. She speaks her mind, probably a bit too passionately, and she makes hasty decisions based on the moment she's in without thinking things through.

Items on your character at canon point: The clothes on her back, a backpack with two other complete outfits in it, the boots and socks on her feet, a journal and a pen.

Abilities, Strengths and Weaknesses:

Pyrokinesis - the ability to start and control fires with a thought. While she's had years to practice and get it to a point where her emotions won't set it off, she's used to going big or going home with her ability. It's use is a matter of survival for her. Using her ability for too long or trying to use it for something new (example: burning fine detail into a piece of wood instead of just torching the thing to ash) will give her a headache and leave her feeling nauseated. There is also the matter of having to keep her eyes on the thing she's setting fire to, otherwise she risks losing control. Not only that but this leaves her wide open for attacks.
