[She doesn't say a word in reply. There's a vague sort of...nod...but then silence. She even stays outside for a good five minutes before standing and heading in, seeking Thomas out.

And she doesn't say anything to him. Just watches him. Her expression isn't one of dislike or distrust for once. It's concern. Of all the things for her to show towards Thomas.]

Are you going to leave Joel's daughter alone?

That's not what I asked. [ There's a half smile on her face as she heads to the cabinets to find potato chips. Thomas may notice however that, after studying the bag and moving to open it once or twice, the unopened package is put back.]


I know you'd never feed off of her. Joel doesn't. He's a terrified dad. And he's going to retaliate and react horribly.

[ A glance at the bag of chips and a shake of her head. And a lie. ] I'm not hungry.

I kinda do, actually. They're poking at something bigger than them, something they don't understand. I have yet to see a situation like that end well for anyone involved.

[ And he just gets a frown. ]

Leave it alone, Thomas. I'm not interested in food.

[ She's been eating less lately, only to end up eating big in her room at two AM when she just really can't sleep. ]

Pick and choose when to push back. If someone either just isn't getting it or refuses to give you a chance, step away. Staying and arguing back doesn't work as often as it should.

Thomas, second chances are hard. If they were easy, the world wouldn't be as fucked as it is.
