that_costI tried as hard as I could to make this fit Firestarter's information already. So here goes.
Charlie McGee was still born to Victoria and Andy McGee, a couple who met in college during a drug trial. This drug trial was done by Division (instead of the Shop). The people running it were hoping to find a way to tap into unused psychic abilities. Andy McGee became a Pusher, but the ability was hit and miss and caused harm any time he used it. Micro-aneurysms formed on his brain with each use.
When Charlie's abilities manifested at age seven, they were violent and massive. A high-powered Burner, she immediately attracted the attention of Division. This put the McGee's in danger so Andy grabbed his family and ran. They lasted on the run for only a couple years, finally pushing their way to Germany to stay with family. Division caught up just after Charlie's eleventh birthday and, with the help of a family friend and Porter, she was swiftly taken to China.
She was told they'd come back with her father, but after two days it was apparent no one was coming back. Fearing the worst, Charlie starts life as a street rat, quickly learning how to steal and pick pockets to survive.
Now she's seventeen and has unintentionally befriended one Damien Burkehardesttofind and isn't at all aware of what she's gotten herself into in the process.
